It’s only 45 miles (72 kilometers) from the airport to the main entrance of Zion National Park. George Regional Airport is the closest airport to Zion and Bryce Canyon. Many people visit Zion and Bryce Canyon on the way to Grand Canyon National Park as part of a bucket list national parks tour. Most visitors fly into Las Vegas, Nevada, or Salt Lake City, Utah, although some visitors may fly directly into St. Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks are located in southwestern Utah. It’s not a canyon at all, rather it’s a collection of over a dozen natural amphitheaters carved by erosion on the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. We will exit the park after a brief stop at Checkerboard Mesa or other areas along the way.Īs we continue our journey toward Bryce Canyon National Park, we will stop for lunch at one of the local cafes on Highway 89. This is a gateway to an equally beautiful and unique part of Zion National Park. Afterwards we will ascend the east canyon to the Zion Tunnel. From there, you head up the canyon and visit the Temple of Sinewava, Weeping Rock, Emerald Pools, and Court of the Patriarchs, depending on the amount of time available. We will also board the shuttle at this time and head further up the canyon. Our first stop is at the Human History Museum for a view of the West Temple formation. Here we enter this beautiful canyon with towering red and white sandstone cliffs. We depart from your hotel at 9:30-10:00 am and travel to Zion National Park.
